Church of San Fancisco

The Church of San Francisco on 11 October 2012.

I have taken photographs of this church uptown from this exact same vantage point before. You can see the color version of one previous photograph here and the black and white version here. I have found that going back and taking a new photo of something from the same spot is akin to rereading a great book. A new photograph of the same subject in a different light reveals an entirely new subject. For one thing, in this photo there are no vultures cruising around in the sky above. As a result the place looks less forbidding.

This church is massive. The only photograph of it that I have taken that even begins to convey its massiveness is here.

Hey Steve, I just wanted to let you know that this week's Economist contains a special section on Mexico. There is even a small article about your town and its expat community. You might want to check it out. It is quite encouraging about Mexico's future (and a bit critical of some US policies towards Mexico and Mexicans, e.g. long border and customs waits).

Thanks so much for this info, Bloggerboy. I happen to know someone who subscribes. I shall check it out and perhaps say something about it here later.
